You never know who is in your presence. You never know who and what they have dug their way out of in order to live again. I never knew. I met this petite mother of four in Houston Texas, in 2012. I went there to debut my stage play LOVE COVERS. This play is about relationships and who, how, what and why we cover. Some cover out of fear, some Cover out of shame, some for love. And some covers and simply cover-ups to silence what is really going on. Kathy auditioned for a part in the play, married to a man who had other secrets. She played the role well and little did I know that later, her freedom to speak would emerge from this, her first public stage play. She reminds me of Maya Angelou who kept her silence until one day The Caged Bird began to sing. When I left Houston I came back to Minnesota and began volunteering again in recovery homes and now human trafficking had emerged front and center and became an added cause to fight for my Cover girls. I wrote the play to speak of acceptance and not judging people because you don’t know their story! Well, Kathy uncovered her story and I could not believe I had a Cover Girl right there in my camp. Her book THE UNSPOKEN REVEALED was born in 2014. January 2017 she performed her stage play and again March 2019! The stage production was based on the real-life events of one survivor’s journey through the dark world of sex- trafficking! Fast forward to today, she is a Program Director and Spokesperson for the cause. She even went to the White House and was part of a signing President Trump did against sex trafficking aka as “modern-day slavery”.

This play is all about Love! The love of family, friends and other relationships. 

Love is an action word that involves covering that and those you love. 

As one identifies, experiences and identify love, it will be tested and

tried. Love vows say, “good or bad, rich or poor in sickness and health,

still how does one love through the bad? 

Only when forgiveness is a lifelong partner will this be achieved. 

“Plays bring families, communities, and cultures together, to love,

laugh and learn.”

Who You Are vs. What You Do

It is important to know who you are, what you believe, and in WHOM you believe. You need to know YOU, and know WHO! If you don’t, you will believe the opinions of others, when what truly matters is how you see yourself. Do you see yourself as God sees you? Fearfully and wonderfully made. A chosen people, a royal priesthood, a
holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

It is your beliefs that become your view on life, morals, habits, character, truths, love, passions, and core values. Knowing yourself as an individual helps you discover what makes you happy, sad, delightful, and what you are good at doing to help others. It reveals the true authentic you! I heard Maya Angelou make this statement: “They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” How do you make others feel?

If you are a person of authority who oversees others, make them feel valued. Tell them they are doing a good job. Speak positive in their life, because the words you impart in them will manifest. Your Words will push them towards greatness!! Parents, from today on, kiss the forehead of your child and tell them “Now go be great!”

The Story of Esther

Introduction: Becoming Royal

Not so long ago, a common young lady from California named Meagan married a Prince named Harry. I say common because that is how people who are not royalty are referred to. Royalty is a certain upper class or realm you are born into, rarely invited into or married into. Thank God times have changed and the Prince chose the one he loved, outside of what was expected.

But honestly, what girl doesn’t dream of marrying her prince? What girl hasn’t said or dreamed that same dream? After all, the fairy tales tell us this was every girl’s ultimate dream: prince on a white horse coming to her rescue. From Cinderella to Snow White, to Rapunzel. The list goes on. But have you noticed how the fairy tales never show the prince saying he will marry a common girl and make her his wife?

Now to Esther’s story: like Abraham, only God foreknew the series of dark days that were ahead in the making of this star. Only God knew when she would hit center stage and take on the leading role. It didn’t happen right way even though it was a done deal. The refining fire and processing of this star would begin with some dark days. When she appears on the scene, it is after a dark time in the kingdom when the King got drunk and lost his mind and his Queen. He ordered Queen Vashti to appear before him like a possession in a procession and she refused! Therefore, she was fired and put out of the kingdom. As Vashti was cast into outer darkness, Esther was being brought to the light to be processed for the position.

So Esther, along with all the other virgins, was captured. They all were coming into the palace with the knowledge of what happened to Vashti. Someone I am sure let the secret out the bag of the king’s wrath and decision. Vashti’s actions were now woven in the fabric of the new queen’s garment they would wear, learning life lessons of what to do what not to do. Later in this story Esther would discover she had a little more of Vashti’s mantle than she knew.

Cover ups, what can possibly happen bad from covering something not meant to happen. Even if you try to keep a secret and take it to the grave, it may still speak from the grave. That little white lie may never die. Some say “What does a little white lie hurt?” Depends if that lie betrays one’s loyalty and truth. Loyalty is love. Loyalty covers but sometimes to the point of destruction. Loyalty builds trust but “loyal” lies cause destruction. Imagine building a house with no secure foundation.

I wrote a book called ‘Cover Girls in the Church”, The 11th Commandment, Thou Shall Not Tell. In it a woman named Bathsheba was named among the cover girls. I learned some of the answers why we cover and what we feel we need to cover. It broke open many truths of what covering really is and does. Covering for ourselves or others can be a good or bad thing a times. Covering to shift the blame or hide a embarrassing or shameful act may help us but hurt others. The problem is, that man-made covers eventually will deteriorated and self destruct. Then another cover is needed if the truth is not be exposed! The layers have now begun for it seems easier to keep covering than to expose truth.

In this book, Layers of Betrayal, we will start with a lad named David. Looking at the issues these women faced, it seems they started with him, or did it? Issues that affect other generations run at least three deep. We will learn the choices we make today will affect our tomorrows. You, your children and your children’s, children.

We will share some of King David’s story of two of the many women in his life. Bathsheba a wife and Tamar his daughter. One will get plenty of mentions throughout his life while the other fades quietly into the backdrop of her fathers life. We have to start with the foundation of the seed sower in this story, David. We have to do a little of “his-story” to get to theirs. As an Life Empowerment Coach, I am called to help the ladies out, but since the men were here first and are part of the solution we must help the brothers out too!#metoo #coveredgirls

New for Spring/ Summer 2017

  What has God’s Original Cover Girl been up to since January 2017? Well kicking off the year strong using time wisely, I have written two new books and rewritten two. I am also in the studio, working on a song that will be used in documentary and movie! Oh, and Cover Girls is Celebrating 10 years!! (Next Blog) Cover Girls in the Church book has been rewritten and new Cover Girls added!!

I have also rewritten Anointed to Touch, Chosen to Carry, Lessons from King David.  It is now The Price of Promotion, God’s Raise. By making an acronym with the word RAISE, it will help you to see if you qualify for promotion! Have you been,  R-rejected A-accused I-isolated or S-suffered to be E-elevated? These seem to be God’s requirements. (Short snippet from Introduction)

Most of the time, those who are chosen to carry the glory can be found serving God with all their heart in the shadows. They are brought into the limelight, later after they can handle the persecution that comes from those making accusations against their character. Many times others are simply jealous of the Father’s favor that pulled the individual out of obscurity into something great.
God has elevated that person from worshiping privately in the field, to center stage. God has called them out, because they have graduated from the isolation “Wilderness 101” class, the days of testing. He can trust them.  They have been separated out to lead the people of God that they are assigned to. These glory carriers have been called to teach what they have learned, so others can bring the glory and favor of God into their own lives.

God chooses those who have been tried in the fire, and refuse to bow. He needs bold and seasoned servants who are not afraid to fight for Him. Not, those who don’t want to pay the price for His glory. Who just want to be connected to anointed people, but don’t want to live God’s way to be anointed. The real glory seekers are willing to sacrifice their lives for the anointing and will lead the people who hunger for God, to it. These called out ones, are over-comers in all situations, because they know who their God is and what He can do. They will win every battle God walks them through, regardless of the fight.

So this Cover Girl is on the move, as always. This is why no blogging for a while but, I’m Back!! Next Release “Shut Up” Stop Talking and Start Praying – Hannah’s Story!

Pyramids of Power 2016

Every time there is an election and a new head is being established over a country or people, one must serious consider what that head will deliver to the body and vice versa. Those applying for the position of leadership, often times say what is needed to secure the trust and votes of the people. Later many times that position of power changes the head or heart of that leader. It happens now and it happened back then. Only back then when God spoke the earth into existence, the Head, GOD was all good. So God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit worked well together. It wasn’t until He added a man things began to change. Another voice disrupted the peace of the God Head Pyramid. He wanted the power. You see Satan couldn’t change Gods mind for power in heaven so he began his quest for power on earth through man, Gods creation. Satan was good at getting followers because 1/3 of angels fell from heaven with him. Leadership, there is that word again, means; the power to influence others.

Good or bad, leadership happens. Money often is equated with power. Can I share a few names and you draw your own conclusions..Bill Cosby, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Hilliary Clinton, Pope Francis,  Vladimir Putin, to name a few. What ideologies will flows from these heads to the body? Leadership, who really is qualified?

2016 Cover My Sistahs Prayer

Father God, I come before You on behalf of my dear sister. God, there are secret petitions that have been whispered in the midnight hour and have been watered by hidden tears. Thank You for collecting them and putting them on Your altar. Lord, I stand with her as she seeks Your face for her family, her ministry, her finances, her health and spiritual growth. I believe, without a shadow of a doubt that You are working things out and moving things out of the way. You are making roads where there are none, in order to make happen what needs to happen to insure that Your plan comes into fruition. You have commissioned Your angels to move mountains, as her faith stands – unwavering – she will not be denied.

Her requests are brought before You and You promised that You will grant the desires of her heart. Lord, let Your will be done in and through her life as she seeks Your face. She will not be moved. She will not lose. She will not falter. She will not break. She will not surrender to the wiles of the enemy and to the voice of his lies. She stands strong, in the power of Your might – unshakeable – unmovable – mighty in battle. She WINS! Nothing by any means shall overtake her, except the blessings. Every seed sown shall bring forth the harvest in its season. She does not lack any good thing – YOU PROMISED! Lord, grant her the peace to go through the process that will bring her into the promise. She will live and see Your salvation, in and through her life. I believe that. I stand with her and rejoice in the knowledge that she can trust that You will not make her ashamed for trusting in You. God, You are great and greatly to be praised. I know You will do it. All of her needs are met, all of her bills are paid and she owes no man anything but to love him. No matter what the situation is right now, it is not the final outcome because You promise that abundance belongs to Your children. She is Your daughter. You are her father and she can trust that You love her – and Your perfect love casts out the fear and anguish that may have accompanied her test/trial. She is victorious. She is Your beloved – the apple of Your eye. I await the testimony and know with full assurance that You will bring it to pass, speedily. Thank you for it, right now – in the name of Your Son – our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ – Amen.

2015 Time for a Raise! Jubilee

WHAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR A RAISE FROM GOD?

I learned why David qualified for promotion and God’s RAISE. I learned through His example the way up in God is down. I learned through David’s humility, he gave God something to work with. Most times promotion comes with a raise. In God we seem to get the raise first but its not the kind of raise one would expect. While studying this preparing for a message , I did a word play on the word RAISE. An acronym to help understand Gods ways of promotion.

A raise or to raise , what does this mean?
to rise or increase in height
to hike or increase wages
to elevate or lift higher
to go up
to bring up, move up
to express or verbalize
to grow

R-Rejection, A– Abandonment/Accusations, I-Isolation, S– Separation/Suffering, and Elevation. After you go through this God will elevate you. God seems to take you down before He brings you up. I believe He wants you to stay up therefore he does this deep cleansing using these ingredients to qualify you.

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish strengthen settle you.
